A major change is coming for those who watch their favorite shows and movies on Hulu and Disney+. Beginning next year, Hulu will become apart of Disney+.
Yes, the Hulu app is expected to be fully integrated into the Disney+ app in 2026. There will be one platform instead of two for these services. Since last year, Disney+ has been adding Hulu content into the app. Along with Disney, Marvel and National Geographic hubs, the new Hulu hub appeared giving a streamlined experience for users.
If you were a Hulu subscriber or bundle subscriber, you could watch select content from Hulu on Disney+. So it’s only natural that the next evolution would be to integrate it completely. According to Bob Iger, CEO of The Walt Disney Co., “This will create an impressive package of content pairing the highest caliber brands and franchises, great general entertainment, kids programming, news, and industry leading live sports content all in a single app.”
What does this mean for those currently using the Hulu app? In short, the standalone app will no longer exist. Starting this fall, Disney+ users will see Hulu instead of the Star tile on Disney+ globally. In addition, the team is constantly adding content until they transfer the entire catalog. Following that, Disney+ users will notice more changes including a more personalized home page. However, there will be no change to the cost. Standalone Disney+ and Hulu subscriptions will still be available as well as bundles.
Currently, you can bundle both platforms with ads for $10.99 or add HBO Max for $16.99. Previously, Disney+ provided a bundle with both alongside ESPN+ with no ads for $19.99. However, ESPN is launching their own service later this month. Bundling with the new platform will now cost you $35.99 monthly (discounted $29.99 for the first 12 months).
At the present time, Disney has not announced the subscription prices for the upcoming integration. Although has not set a date for the integration, they expect it to happen by the end of 2025. So if your Hulu app suddenly disappears or no longer works, check the Disney+ app.
