Since Get Out, Jordan Peele has been blurring the lines of reality. This time, he takes a step back from directing to producing. His company Monkeypaw Productions has produced films such as Us, Monkey Man, Candyman and Nope. Now, along with director Justin Tippings, they take a stab at one of America’s favorite sports, football, with the film HIM.

What is HIM about?

The story revolves around rising-star quarterback, Cameron “Cam” Cade (Tyriq Withers). Since he was young, Cade has dedicated his life to football in hopes of one day making it to the pros. However, days before the scouting Combine, he is attacked by a deranged fan. As a result, he suffers brain trauma that could end his career.

When all seems lost, he gets a second chance from his childhood hero, Isaiah White (Marlon Wayans). The eight-time Championship quarterback offers to train Cam at an isolated compound owned by him and his wife, Elsie White (Julia Fox). However, Cam begins to notice cracks in the megastar’s facade as his training progresses. With each practice things get darker and darker. Teammates get hit by flying football balls if catches are made and other strange things begin to happen causing Cam to question himself. What would he sacrifice to the be the greatest of all time? As he descends down the rabbit hole, the cost may be more than he bargained for.

As for the cast, Withers is no stranger to sports. He was a former wide-receiver for Florida State University. Alongside Withers and Wayans are comics Tim Heidecker and Jim Jefferies, MMA heavyweight fighter Maurice Greene and rappers Guapdad 4000 and Tierra Whack.

How to watch HIM?

Him arrives in theaters on September 9, 2025 with a run-time of 1 hour and 36 minutes.

What is HIM rated?

The film has a rating of R for strong bloody violence, language throughout, sexual material, nudity and some drug use.
